Autopsy: Murder Victim Shot To Death

An autopsy has determined a man found alongside Contentnea Creek near Stantonsburg on Sunday died from gunshot wounds. Authorities have also been able to identify the victim as 33-year-old Salvardor Salinas. His next of kin in Mexico has been notified of his death. An off-duty state trooper and his family fishing in the Creek discovered his body around 3pm Sunday. On Thursday, Major John Farmer with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said no arrests had been made but the murder investigation is still ongoing.
